Joyous News: The Detroit Lions have signed a veteran defensive tackle to help their struggling defense.

The Detroit Lions are enjoying their most successful season in decades. Jared Goff is leading an offense loaded with weapons, and the team is entertaining to watch. The defense, on the other hand, has been suspect all year, and the last three weeks have been brutal. Brad Holmes, the team’s general manager, is bringing in reinforcements. The Lions have signed veteran defensive tackle Tyson Alualu.

The Detroit Lions have signed DT Tyson Alualu’s
Alualu’s agent announced the news. He spent the previous six seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he had 158 tackles and 7.5 sacks. He adds a veteran presence to this young defense. Alualu has 416 tackles, 25 sacks, 46 tackles for loss, and 15 pass deflections in 191 games played. Cam Sutton and Isaiah Buggs, both former Pittsburgh teammates, will be reunited with him.

Can He Assist the Defense?

The defense has given up 26 points to the Bears, 29 points to the Packers, and 28 points to the Saints in the last three weeks. Furthermore, offenses do not need to exert much effort to move the ball up and down the field. Part of the reason for this is that the quarterback is under little to no pressure. When opposing offenses can double-team Aidan Hutchinson, someone else must step up. So far, this has not occurred. If the Lions are to have a realistic chance of winning the Super Bowl, they must be able to get stops.

The Detroit Lions are hoping that this is just a regular-season hiccup and that they can figure things out in the final third of the season. If not, the team may be eliminated early in the playoffs.
