Leicester City winger Issahaku Fatawu was recently interviewed by South African magazine Soccer Laduma.
The 19-year-old, who is on loan from Sporting, had a lengthy and fascinating conversation about the Lions, the Foxes, and the Ghana national team.
When asked about his departure from Sporting Lisbon, Fatawu claimed that manager Ruben Amorim didn’t have any plans for him, which is why he ended up at Leicester City last summer.
“That’s exactly what I mean. It all comes down to how he wants me to play and how he wants the team to play. “I believe what he wants from me now is for me to go somewhere and play more minutes and improve,” Fatawu told Soccer Laduma.
The winger appears to be content at Leicester City, where he feels at home and is looking forward to staying if the club is promoted to the Premier League.
“Yeah, the Premier League is my dream league, so I’m hoping to play there, and Leicester has given me a different feeling since I arrived.” The way the people here have treated me has given me more reason to stay. I’d be happy to stay at Leicester because I know and believe in the team, and I believe we’ll qualify for the Premier League, so I’d be happy to stay.”
Fatawu has two goals and one assist in 16 appearances for Leicester City.
Sporting recently released a financial report that included numerous details about their recent transfers. It was revealed there that the Foxes paid €750k to sign the winger on loan.
Leicester City will have the option to sign him permanently for €17 million at the end of the season. In the event of promotion to the Premier League, this clause becomes mandatory.
