The Green Bay Packers are far from the only team dealing with running back injuries in the NFL. Of course, Aaron Jones missed a couple of games early in the season due to a strained hamstring. Even when he returned, he was on a snap-count and his output was limited.

Jones suffered a sprained MCL in their win over the Los Angeles Chargers and has been sidelined ever since. In addition, AJ Dillon has a groin injury, and Emanuel Wilson is on injured reserve with a separated shoulder.

The Indianapolis Colts have been dealing with running back issues all season. Jonathan Taylor, the former Wisconsin Badgers running back and 2021 NFL rushing leader, began the season on the PUP list due to a contentious and public contract dispute.

Taylor eventually signed an extension and returned to the field, but the Colts and Taylor have struggled. Taylor has 414 rushing yards on 100 carries in seven games, good for 4.1 yards per carry. This is his lowest grade in his career.

Taylor is currently out for several weeks following surgery on an injured thumb. Indy is turning to a former Packers running back to fill his spot on the roster this week.

Tyler Goodson, a former Green Bay Packers running back, has been added to the Indianapolis Colts gameday roster.

Earlier in the day, Colts owner Jim Irsay announced on X (formerly Twitter) that former Packers running back Tyler Goodson had been promoted from the practice squad to the gameday roster:

Goodson joined the Colts’ practice squad after Green Bay released him as part of a roster reduction to 53 players. Instead of Goodson, the Packers kept Patrick Taylor on their practice squad at the time.

When Green Bay released Goodson, they reached an injury settlement with him, but that did not stop him from being quickly picked up. After being released by the Packers, he signed with the Colts about two weeks later.

If Goodson plays on Sunday, it will be his first NFL regular season appearance.
