The Green Bay Packers will try to win their third game in a row this Sunday, but it won’t be easy. The Kansas City Chiefs are 8-3 on the season and are still in contention for the top seed in the AFC. The Packers (5-6) have won two straight games and are on the verge of claiming one of the two Wild Card spots.
The Packers have been dealing with a slew of injuries over the last few weeks, but they announced some good news today.
The Green Bay Packers say wide receiver Jayden Reed hasn’t had any setbacks and is expected to play against the Kansas City Chiefs.
According to Ryan Wood of USA Today Sports:
Jayden Reed claims his chest injury is the result of a hard hit he took early in the game against the Chargers. He’s been going over it ever since.
That is unlikely to change this week, which bodes well for Jordan Love and the Packers offense.
As a rookie, Reed has had a significant impact on the Packers’ offense.
Jayden Reed has not only provided a spark in the passing game over the last month, but he has also received more targeted touches out of the backfield.
In the last four games, Reed has rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown, including five carries in the last two. According to PFF, three of his six rushes have accumulated at least 15 yards, giving him a yardage average of 13.8 yards per attempt.
“11 (Reed) is a playmaker,” said Jason Vrable, receivers coach. “He was in college, and he’s been doing it since he arrived.” I think he’s a natural football player, he’s competitive, and as long as we can get the ball in those guys’ hands, good things will happen.”
Reed has 43 touches, 578 yards, and nine touchdowns on the season.
