According to the Evening Standard, Tottenham want to sign a defender early in the January transfer window, with Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite a possible target.
Branthwaite signed a new long-term contract this season after breaking into Sean Dyche’s starting lineup after a loan spell at PSV Eindhoven last season.
He is now said to be a target for several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, but Ange Postecoglou wants a deal in place early in the transfer window, and Branthwaite is one of the targets.
“Tottenham have joined the race to sign Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo, as they prepare to enter the transfer market for a new centre-back in January,” they said in a statement.
“Spurs have a long-standing interest in Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly, as well as Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite.”
“Postecoglou wants a new defensive signing lined up to come in early in January.”
There is no chance.
Branthwaite is a brilliant young defender who recently wore the captain’s armband for the Under-21 national team, demonstrating his standing among the best young talents in the game.
That’s why the club acted so quickly to sign him to a new long-term contract, because we know how good he is and how important he is to our future.
With the recent ten-point deduction, the club is now in a relegation battle where it should not have been before, making keeping all of our best players in the upcoming transfer window even more important.
Because of our financial situation, we’re always vulnerable to a big-money bid catching our eye and convincing us to change our minds, but considering how much staying in the Premier League is worth, it would have to be a mind-boggling sum.
As a result, this transaction cannot take place, correct?
