The Detroit Lions practiced again on Wednesday in preparation for their Week 13 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. Linebacker Alex Anzalone was the only active Lions player who did not take part in the media portion of practice. Jonah Jackson, the team’s offensive guard, returned after missing the previous two games. Meanwhile, Hendon Hooker, the team’s rookie quarterback, returned to practice after the team officially opened his 21-day return to practice window.
While recovering from a torn ACL suffered in college, Detroit’s third-round draft pick has been on the non-football injury list. Anzalone may miss the Saints game due to an injury sustained in the team’s loss to Green Bay on Thursday, according to third-year coach Dan Campbell. If the veteran linebacker is unable to play, Detroit will be missing one of its defensive captains. The unit, however, is not without experience. Derrick Barnes, Jack Campbell, Malcolm Rodriguez, and Jalen Reeves-Maybin have all made significant contributions to the team throughout their careers.
Barnes and Reeves-Maybin are seasoned veterans, while Campbell and Rodriguez have made significant contributions early in their careers.
“For starters, they’ve all played for us. Barnes and Jack have both taken a number of reps. “(Jalen Reeves-Maybin) has played in this league, and Rodrigo started for us for the majority of last year,” Campbell explained. “As I mentioned before, if there’s one area where we have a significant amount of depth, it’s in that room, so we’re very confident.” It’s never easy to lose a player like Alex, but we have a good feeling about that room, man. We’ll ask them to do what they do best, and I believe they’ll do a good job for us this week.”
