Liverpool joins the race to sign the 25-year-old South American, with two other Premier League clubs also interested.
Douglas Luiz, an Aston Villa midfielder, has been linked with a move away from the club in recent months.
A number of Premier League clubs are thought to be keeping tabs on the 25-year-old Brazilian midfielder, and according to 90 Min, Liverpool has now joined the race.
Liverpool have reportedly expressed an interest in signing the player if he leaves Aston Villa. The 25-year-old has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most dependable midfielders, and Liverpool could certainly use someone like him.
They were unable to sign a quality defensive midfielder during the summer transfer window, so Alexis MacAllister has had to fill that role this season. The Argentine international is better suited to a number eight role, and the arrival of Luiz will allow Mac Allister to play in his national role.
Luiz would be a good fit for Liverpool’s midfield and could help Jurgen Klopp’s unit for the foreseeable future.
The player has also been linked with Arsenal and Manchester City.
The opportunity to join a big club could be appealing to the player, but it appears that the West Midlands club is unwilling to let him leave in January. This season, Aston Villa has been quite impressive, and they are vying for a place in the Champions League. They will not want to weaken the squad any time soon, and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will test the waters with a January offer.
