What is the backstory?
According to 90min, Liverpool is interested in signing Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz from the Premier League.

According to the report, Liverpool have “made it clear that they would be interested in pursuing Luiz if he chooses to leave Villa”.

The Reds have gotten a negative reaction. Liverpool have “not received any encouragement” that the £15 million (Sky Sports) Brazil international midfielder could move to Anfield, according to 90min.

Villa are “adamant” about not selling Luiz during the January transfer window. After all, the Villans are in contention for the Premier League top four under former Arsenal manager Unai Emery.

Liverpool face another potential stumbling block in their pursuit of Luiz, who impressed against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Arsenal and Manchester City are also interested in the 25-year-old, according to 90min. Edu, Arsenal’s Sporting Director, wants his Brazilian compatriot to play at the Emirates Stadium.

Liverpool should abandon their January pursuit of Douglas Luiz.

Liverpool, in my opinion, should not even attempt to sign Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa during the January transfer window. I doubt the Villans will offload the midfielder in the middle of the season.

Of course, we all know that money talks in football. But will Liverpool make a ridiculous offer for Luiz? Is Liverpool willing to pay £80 million or £90 million for the Brazilian?

No, I don’t believe so. As I mentioned previously. Villa are performing admirably under Emery. The Villans are a large and well-established Premier League club that is not in desperate need of funds.
