West Ham United: Jarrod Bowen injury update provided ahead of games against Backa Topola and Crystal Palace
According to Claret & Hugh, West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen will not be able to return from injury in time for the Europa League match against Backa Topola.
Bowen could return for the Crystal Palace game, according to an update on the Hammers’ website on Tuesday [28 November].
Bowen missed last weekend’s 2-1 win over Burnley due to a minor injury sustained while on international duty with England.
According to the report, “the No. 20 is recovering from his injury but will be ineligible to face Backa Topola in Serbia.”
“We were told this morning however that there are high hopes he will be available for the match against Crystal Palace.”
Don’t put him in danger.
Losing Bowen for even one game, let alone two or more, is devastating. This season, the versatile winger has once again been a standout performer.
Bowen might not have started against Backa in midweek anyway, but he would have certainly started against Palace.
According to this update, the 26-year-old should be able to compete for a spot among the substitutes, if not the starting lineup.
Given the absence of Michail Antonio, David Moyes will be hoping Bowen is fit enough to start next Sunday’s (3 December) match.
West Ham do not want Bowen to aggravate his injury at any point, so they cannot afford to rush him back ahead of schedule.
If he isn’t fully fit to face Palace at London Stadium, that’s fine. Bowen is the one player United cannot afford to lose in the long run.
