Hammers News brings you a major January transfer update from West Ham’s top source, as targets are identified and issues are discussed.
West Ham are said to have no money to spend in the January transfer window because they are on UEFA’s FFP watchlist.
Previously, Hammers News spoke exclusively with football finance expert Kieran Maguire about what this meant for the club.
But that hasn’t stopped the Hammers from being linked with everyone and anything less than five weeks before the winter transfer window opens.
West Ham are about to embark on a hectic five-week schedule of ten games.
That will see the Hammers through to January 2nd, when the transfer window opens and things will become equally hectic off the field.
A major January transfer update from a reputable source
It also coincides with AFCON, which will see West Ham and David Moyes lose up to four first-team players, including Mohammed Kudus and Nayef Aguerd.
Many West Ham fans believe the club should sign a striker and a left-back during the winter transfer window.
West Ham fans have renewed faith in the club’s recruitment efforts, with transfers overseen by technical director Tim Steidten and majority owner David Sullivan, in addition to Moyes. Mark Noble, the sporting director, also has a say.
As a result, reports claiming that there is no money to spend due to FFP have left many supporters dissatisfied.
However, Hammers News has exclusively learned that this is only ‘partially’ true.
The top source inside West Ham has a major January transfer update, with targets identified and issues discussed.
Our key contact has revealed that the Hammers are on track to meet their January targets. However, some of them are also scheduled to attend AFCON.
Targets have been identified, and issues have been discussed.
The issue with signings is as much about squad space as it is about raising funds to meet FFP.
“Partially true (regarding selling to buy due to UEFA’s FFP rules),” a top source confirmed to Hammers News.
“We also don’t have any slots.”
“We need to move players in order to create a slot and raise funds.”
“Another problem is we lose three to four players to the African Nations and some of the players we are looking at are also going to the African Nations.”
Fans will be relieved to learn that the club intends to make signings. It’s also interesting to hear that African talent is being sought.
However, it appears that in order to do so, fringe players will have to be moved on.
This is frequently easier said than done. West Ham, on the other hand, has a number of players who could be moved on without negatively impacting the first team.
