Kierney will leave Arsenal permanently in the summer, with a return to Scotland on the cards, TEAMtalk has learned, with Real Sociedad unlikely to agree to a permanent deal.
Arsenal will continue their push to win the Premier League for the first time in two decades, with more work to be done on their squad, which is currently top of the table. Outgoings will include some fringe players making way for new signings.
Tierney, a full-back, is one such player. He is currently on loan at Real Sociedad, which he joined this summer. The Spanish club has been very impressed with the Scottish defender and would like to keep him.
According to sources, the former Celtic man will be one of the players released in the summer of 2024, and a number of clubs would be eager to sign him. According to sources close to the player, a return to Scotland is possible, and the likelihood of Real signing him permanently is low.
The defender, who has shown he can play in the Premier League and the Champions League, will have plenty of options in the UK and throughout Europe. Despite being a fan favorite and regarded as the club’s future captain, his life at Arsenal has not been easy.
Tierney has been a standout performer in LaLiga this season, but he was sidelined by a hamstring injury almost two months ago. The club was devastated to see him injured because he had developed into a key player and had been named man of the match on multiple occasions.

Tierney is being pursued by Aston Villa.
There is a chance for him to return to his childhood club Celtic, but the Scottish champions would have to strike a deal with Arsenal, who paid Celtic £25 million to sign him in 2019.
Aston Villa are also interested in Tierney and could make a £25 million deal in the summer. Tierney is said to want to return home but, at only 26, wants to continue playing at the highest level for a few more years.
Tierney has a contract with Arsenal until the summer of 2026 and has made 124 appearances for the club, scoring five goals and assisting 14 times. He will remain on loan in Spain until the end of the season, after which he will be one of the players available for a move in the summer transfer window.
Mohamed Elneny is another name who could leave the Emirates, though he is more likely to leave in January before his contract expires at the end of the current season.
