Aston Villa’s January signing is confirmed as the club issues a statement.

Brad Miller, Exeter City’s head of coaching and player development, has announced that he will join Aston Villa in the new year.

Miller has spent the last 11 years with Exeter’s academy. He has held a variety of positions, including community coach, pre-academy lead coach, academy part-time coach, and player recruitment.

“Brad Miller, Head of Coaching and Player Development and integral member of the Academy for the last 11 years, will be leaving Exeter City at the end of 2023,” the club said in a statement. Brad will work through December, then leave in January to begin the next chapter of his life, having been offered a position at Aston Villa.

“While we are saddened by Brad’s departure from the Club, we are thrilled that another ‘one of our own’ is moving on to work at the highest level.” The dedication and impact Brad has had on the players and staff for over a decade cannot be summed up in a single email, but his pursuit of excellence and influence on the coaching curriculum and its delivery has set the tone for many years to come.

“Exeter Academy graduates have come to represent the club’s identity.” We began the recruitment process today, and we are excited to find a successor who will carry on Brad’s legacy.

“The one thing Brad asked in his leaving announcement to staff today was to ‘please continue to put the players’ interests at the heart of your thinking’ and on behalf of everyone we would like to thank Brad for doing the same.”
