When asked directly about the West Ham January transfer rumours, Steven Bergwijn responds.
Steven Bergwijn, a former Tottenham Hotspur player, has responded to speculation about a January move to West Ham United.
West Ham have been linked with a January move for former Tottenham attacker Steven Bergwijn (De Telegraaf).
Hammers manager David Moyes is desperate for attacking reinforcements this winter, and the addition of someone with Bergwijn’s versatility would be a huge help.
Said Benrahma, Maxwel Cornet, and Mohammed Kudus may all be departing for AFCON at the beginning of January, so we’ll be particularly light in the attacking department for the first four or five weeks of the new year.
Bergwijn, a former Tottenham Hotspur player, would be an excellent addition in my opinion. But what does he make of the possibility of moving to the London Stadium?
Steven Bergwijn responds to West Ham transfer rumors
The Ajax player has been speaking with reporters about his future with the club.
And, when asked specifically about a possible winter move to West Ham, he said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano:
“You should speak with my agent.” Are you leaving Ajax in January? Nothing is ever ruled out in football.”
Tottenham signed him in January 2020 from PSV Eindhoven for around £30 million including add-ons (ESPN). After failing to succeed at Spurs, he moved to Ajax for £26 million two and a half years later (Sky Sports).
The 26-year-old scored eight goals and made ten assists in 83 games for Tottenham, but he’s fared much better with Ajax, scoring 22 goals and making eight assists in 60 appearances (Transfermarkt).
The 32-cap Holland international can play anywhere along the front line and would add a new dimension to our attacking play.
He has a lot of speed and is a very direct runner. I’d be delighted if West Ham could sign Steven Bergwijn in January.
