Staff ‘inside the club’ at West Ham now’really rate’ Mubama is a divine being.
Divin Mubama of West Ham United was given a rare chance under David Moyes.
Divin Mubama of West Ham United was given the opportunity to impress for David Moyes’ side over the weekend, and journalist Paul Brown has now provided an update on how the young striker is rated internally and whether he could be named to the starting XI soon.
Due to an injury to Michail Antonio and a poor start to the game, Mubama came off the bench against Burnley and contributed to the Hammers’ victory. The young striker ran towards the away end to celebrate an equalizer, but the goal was officially ruled an own-goal by Dara O’Shea.
His movement in the box, however, contributed to a problem in the Burnley penalty area, and it may be time for Moyes to unleash him as a starter, but there are doubts about his long-term future at the London Stadium.
Divin Mubama’s future at West Ham United is uncertain.
Mubama was a member of West Ham’s U18 team that won the FA Youth Cup last season, finishing as the competition’s top goalscorer. The youngster made his senior squad debut in pre-season and later expressed his desire to play regular football under Moyes. Mubama, on the other hand, hasn’t had much of a chance in the Premier League this season, making his debut against Burnley last weekend.
The lack of playing time could have a significant impact on Mubama’s future at the London Stadium, as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season. According to The Athletic, the 18-year-old recently turned down an extension offer from West Ham, raising further doubts about his future at the club. Mubama’s goal scoring record at youth level speaks for itself, so it’s no surprise that the Hammers want to sign him. However, given how disappointing Danny Ings has been during his time at the club, Mubama may be dissatisfied with his lack of playing time thus far this season.
After the Burnley game, Moyes spoke about Mubama’s development, praising his mentality while also mentioning that at his age, being a regular starter in the Premier League is rare…
“We want to play him, but how many 19-year-old centre-forwards do you have in the Premier League?” It’s becoming more difficult because it’s such a difficult role, and the level of competition is extremely high at almost every club. His mentality and attitude are on par with that of any top player. He is tenacious and works tirelessly for the team. We need him to improve his actions and technical ability, but he is only 19 years old.”
