Newcastle United has received good news in the form of an update on Joe Willock’s tragic Achilles Heel recurrence.

According to the Chronicle, Joe Willock injured his Achilles heel again in practice yesterday.

Our thoughts are with Joe, who has been dealing with injuries since the summer.

Eddie Howe was overjoyed with Newcastle’s 4-1 victory over Chelsea today, but he became solemn when asked about Willock’s new injury.

Joe’s hamstring injury at the end of last season was the first long-term injury he had suffered in his career.

Joe Willock injury history and updates

And, before the initial hamstring strain healed completely, he suffered an Achilles heel injury, which appears to have returned yesterday: he is scheduled to see a specialist to determine the extent of the injury.

Joe was recently interviewed, and he mentioned how difficult it has been for him to be out injured for so long, and now he’s injured again.

Willock, of course, will not play in our crucial Champions League match against PSG on Tuesday night.

After the game this afternoon, Eddie Howe had the following to say about Joe’s new injury:

“It appears to be a recurrence of an Achilles injury he suffered a few weeks ago.” It’s a huge setback for us.”

Newcastle United injury blow after Joe Willock substituted in the first-half against Wolves

“We don’t know how long he’s going to be out, we’re going to have to seek specialist advice, but it’s a huge blow for us.”

“I’m sure it’s happened before, but I’ve never been a part of anything like this.” It seems like we’re getting injured every time we turn.”

“Naturally, he’s very down, but in saying that he’s calm at the same time, he’s not emotional or irrational.”

“He recognizes it for what it is. We don’t know the extent of the injury at this time, but we’ll do everything we can to get him back on the field as soon as possible.”

We now have 9 first team players out injured with Sandro Tonali banned for the season.

More negative news (as if we needed it) is that Emil Krafth and Matt Ritchie aren’t registered to play in Europe.

We’ve had a difficult season due to injuries, but we must keep moving forward.

And this could be a huge opportunity for 17-year-old Lewis Miley, who looked fantastic in central midfield today – what a player this lad can be at Newcastle.

We will conclude this article with sympathy and empathy for Joe Willock, and we will stand by him during what is turning out to be a nightmare season.
