Within the last two weeks, the Green Bay Packers have vaulted into the NFC playoff picture. Back-to-back victories have the Packers comfortably positioned in the eighth seed in the NFC. The Packers (5-6) are in third place, trailing only the Seattle Seahawks (6-5) and Minnesota Vikings (6-5).

As the Packers’ offense begins to gel, the front office will almost certainly continue to invest in the future. One of those pieces could be a 25-year-old running back who could eventually replace Aaron Jones.

If the Green Bay Packers prove to be a playoff team, they may pursue running back Zack Moss in 2024.

Bleacher Report’s NFL Staff suggested on Monday that the Packers pursue Moss next season:

With A.J. Dillon set to become a free agent this offseason, Green Bay is expected to look for a ‘between the tackles’ type of running back. While some fans hoped the team would be able to sign Jonathan Taylor, Taylor ended up signing a contract extension. So why not settle for the Colts’ backup running back?

While Taylor was on the PUP list to begin the season, Moss got off to a fast start with two triple-digit rushing performances in the team’s first four games. Taylor has slowed since his return, but the Utah product has already set career highs with 617 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns through Week 10.

Would the Packers let Aaron Jones go?

In terms of Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones, few players have endeared themselves to fans as much as Jones has. Jones uses his platform to make a difference in the community, in addition to ranking third on the franchise’s all-time rushing list. Jones agreed to take a $5 million pay cut in order to stay with the Packers and help them re-sign other players this offseason, as if he couldn’t be more beloved by Packers fans.

Having said that, the star running back has suffered a slew of significant injuries this season. It started with his lingering hamstring injury, and now he’s dealing with an MCL injury that could keep him out for a few weeks. These two injuries, combined with his $17 million cap hit for next season, may make it difficult to keep him this offseason. It would not be surprising if the two sides reached an agreement on a restructured contract, but it would also not be surprising if the two sides agreed to move on.

It will undoubtedly be one of the most important decisions the Packers must make this offseason.
