The Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions are gearing up for another memorable Thanksgiving game. The Lions (8-2) are vying not only for their first NFC North division title, but also for the top seed in the NFC.
The Packers (4-6) are suddenly one position out of the NFC’s final Wild Card spot and could easily make a push if they string together a few wins. As it turns out, the Lions are unlikely to have a key offensive player available in Week 12.
The Detroit Lions have ruled out starting guard Jonah Jackson for their Thanksgiving game against the Green Bay Packers.
With another scheduled missed practice, Jackson’s chances of playing on Thanksgiving aren’t looking promising. If he is unable to play, the Lions will likely turn to rookie Colby Sorsdal for his second consecutive start at left guard.
According to the Lions, Jonah Jackson would have been the only player who did not participate in a full practice. Jackson missed Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears due to ankle and wrist injuries, and was replaced by rookie Colby Sorsdal.
It will be interesting to see if the presence of a backup guard affects how frequently Kenny Clark and company can stop the run and apply pressure to Jared Goff. If the Packers are to make an unlikely playoff run, every week feels like a “must win.”
