Eddie Howe responds to Newcastle United rivals’ complaints about the Premier League loan vote.

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has responded to talk of the Magpies bringing in stars from the Saudi Pro League after Premier League vote went in their favour

Eddie Howe, manager of Newcastle United, has stated that loaning players from Saudi Arabia’s Pro League is not the “be all and end all” for the Magpies ahead of the January transfer window.

A Premier League vote this week failed to pass due to a lack of support from a number of clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur, meaning Newcastle could potentially loan players from four Saudi clubs in January. With Sadio Mane, Ruben Neves, and Karim Benzema available, the Magpies’ chances in the winter window could improve.

But Howe said: “You say Newcastle were favoured but it was a Premier League vote. We’re not the only club involved in that vote. I think the majority of the Premier League and other clubs around the world [benefit] so it’s not solely on us, I don’t think.

“Newcastle, our club, had a view. We voted in a way, a way that we’re allowed to, and the vote came out on the side that it did.”

Newcastle will have money to spend in January and have options outside of the Saudi Pro League.

“I think just from my dealings with it, we’re very relaxed on it,” Howe said. For us, it is not the be-all and end-all. We’ve assembled an excellent team. Now, if we can get players fit before January, the need to recruit will be much less pressing.”
