On Thursday night, the Green Bay Packers put the football world on notice. The spotlight was on them in their Thanksgiving rivalry game against the Detroit Lions, and while few expected the Packers to upset the odds and win in Detroit’s Ford Field, Green Bay did just that.
Green Bay Packers Head Coach Jordan Love receives glowing praise from Matt LaFleur.
After the game, an ecstatic Matt LaFleur spoke to the press, and to no one’s surprise, the Packers’ head coach had nothing but praise for quarterback Jordan Love.
Green Bay’s 25-year-old quarterback put in a tremendous effort in this one, leading his team to a much-needed statement win over the NFC North-leading Lions.
LaFleur described Love as a “cool customer,” according to Mike Spofford of the team website. “You never see him get too high or too low, whether things are going well or poorly.” He’s really grown up in the last four years.”
LaFleur clearly trusts his young quarterback completely, as evidenced by the way he let Love do his thing on Thursday night. The Packers profited handsomely from their decision.
Jordan is adored by all.
LaFleur went on to talk about how Love has won over the locker room. He hasn’t even played a full season as the team’s new quarterback, let alone stepped out of Aaron Rodgers’ shadow, but the former Utah State standout has earned the respect of everyone around him:
“All the guys in the locker room, they love him,” LaFleur added. “I can tell you that all of the coaches adore him.” His approach is consistent, and it reflects who he is on a daily basis. He’s one of the guys, which is important in that position.”
But don’t forget that Love is just getting started, and this young man has a long way to go. But there’s no denying that he’s on the right track.
