Leicester City must do all they can to sign Bodo/Glimt midfielder Albert Grønbæk.
Given the quality of their squad, many expected the Foxes to be in the running for automatic promotion, but the ease with which they have adapted to Maresca’s methods has surprised many.
Nonetheless, the recent losses have served as a reminder of how difficult the division can be, and the boss will be expecting a response in the future.
In addition, if possible, he will want to strengthen in January, and Leicester have been linked with a move for Bodo/Glimt midfielder Albert Grnbaek.
However, a deal for the 22-year-old will not be easy, as Galatasaray, Lille, and Napoli are all reportedly interested in the player, who has been instrumental in their title win in Norway this season.
And here are THREE reasons why Leicester must do everything possible to secure Grnbaek…
- He has a promising future.
We’ll start with the obvious, and it’s clear that Grnbaek is a very exciting talent, as evidenced by the calibre of clubs that have expressed an interest.
He is capable in possession, smart in his movement and picking up spaces, and technically assured. Furthermore, his ability in the final third distinguishes him from the competition.
It may not be the best league in the world, but scoring nine goals in 27 games as an attacking midfielder demonstrates that he has poise and quality where it counts.
With Wilfred Ndidi’s future uncertain and Cesare Casadei struggling at times this season, it’s an area of the pitch that the Foxes may need to improve when the transfer window opens.
2. He is ideal for Enzo Maresca’s style of play.
We know that Maresca has implemented a specific style of play at Leicester, so it’s a matter of finding players who can quickly adapt to the system.
And anyone who has seen Bodo/Glimt play will notice that they are very similar to Leicester in terms of building from the back, short passing, and quick movement.
So, whilst there are no guarantees, you would think that Grønbaek has the technical ability and intelligence to understand exactly what Maresca wants, as he has flourished in a similar approach in Norway.
3. He has room for growth.
The fact that Grnbaek is still a relative youngster with the potential to improve in the coming years is perhaps the most exciting aspect of this potential deal.
Therefore, this could turn out to be a shrewd long-term investment by the Midlands outfit, as not only is Grønbaek capable of making an instant impact, but he could be a key player for the best part of a decade or beyond. Plus, his value could increase significantly, meaning the club could cash in at some point to make a significant profit.
