Newcastle United has the following injuries: Jacob Murphy has provided a brief update on his shoulder surgery recovery.
Jacob Murphy, the winger for newcastle United, is recovering from shoulder surgery.
The 28-year-old sustained a dislocated shoulder against Arsenal earlier this month, just 10 days after suffering the same injury against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
Murphy is expected to be out until early 2024, but he has already returned to the gym.
He took to Instagram to share videos of himself working out in the gym, captioning them’stepping it up’ while doing weight exercises and ‘juicy work’ while riding an exercise bike. Murphy was shown working with his right arm while resting his left arm after undergoing shoulder surgery.
Eddie Howe’s comments on Jacob Murphy’s injury
Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe told The Gazette about Murphy’s operation earlier this month.
“Non-invasive keyhole surgery on his shoulder which has hopefully fixed the problem,” said the orthopedic surgeon. “Timewise on that, probably about nine weeks.”
Murphy will be out until early 2024 after missing nine weeks.
“I’m feeling fantastic! “It stinks to be injured, but I’m really excited to put myself to the test in a new and different way,” Murphy wrote on Instagram after his surgery. “Thank you for your well wishes; I’ll be back soon, new and improved.”
Murphy is one of several Newcastle players on the club’s long-term injury list. Dan Burn, Callum Wilson, Elliot Anderson, Matt Targett, Sven Botman, and Harvey Barnes are all injured and will be out for extended periods of time.
Following a betting ban, Sandro Tonali has also been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Newcastle will play Chelsea at St James’ Park on Saturday (3 p.m. kickoff).
