Daniel Farke will hold a pre-match press conference on Wednesday afternoon. Before the Leeds United match against Rotherham United on Friday, the manager will take questions from television, radio, print, and online journalists at Thorp Arch.

Here’s a rundown of some of the main topics on the boss’s agenda for today’s training session.

Injuries
United’s last game was a home victory over Plymouth Argyle 11 days ago. Pascal Struijk, Stuart Dallas, Jamie Shackleton, Joe Gelhardt, and Djed Spence were all missing on that day.

Sam Byram would leave the game with a hamstring injury, bringing the total to six players to see Farke this afternoon. Struijk had surgery before the international break, and the other four players who did not play in the Plymouth game were expected to return to team training during the break.

International repercussions

Following the victory over Plymouth, Farke bemoaned the scheduling of this week’s game. The selection of the Rotherham trip for live broadcast by Sky Sports has pushed it forward by a day, cutting off a crucial extra few hours of recovery and preparation for United’s internationals.

Because of the late kick-off time, the manager even suggested that some players would miss any pre-trip training sessions with their teammates. Last night, the under-21 teams of Wales and England played their final matches.

As a result, Joe Rodon, Daniel James, Ethan Ampadu, and Charlie Cresswell may have difficulty fitting in meaningful training before Friday’s game. Farke may be questioned about this.

A beneficial break?

Although it has only been 11 days since the last game, Farke has used that time to give his players time off and extra, detailed training at Thorp Arch. The German will almost certainly be asked how he used the break in fixtures and how beneficial he believes it has been.

Gray’s early reappearance

Archie Gray was promoted to England’s under-20 squad during the break, but did not play in their second match. Farke could be questioned about the details of that omission, his early recall, and how any agreement was reached.
