Green Bay Packers: Rodgers’ return this season makes no sense, according to Steve Serby of The New York Post:

After 18 unforgettable seasons together, the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers parted ways this offseason. The four-time MVP quarterback announced his intention to play for the New York Jets in 2023, and the trade took place about a month later.

When the 2023 season began, tragedy struck when Rodgers was killed after only four offensive plays. Rodgers stated unequivocally that he intends to return this season following his injury diagnosis. That, however, may no longer be the case.

Aaron Rodgers’ status as a Green Bay Packers quarterback for the 2023 season is uncertain.

Rodgers’ return this season makes no sense, according to Steve Serby of The New York Post:

With all due respect, Aaron Rodgers, your miraculous comeback attempt is valiant and inspiring, but consider this:

Wait until the following year.

Because the team you desperately want to rejoin now says “Wait ‘Til Next Year” on it.

Robert Saleh, the hapless 32-6 loser, finally benched Zach Wilson and summoned Tim Boyle with 2:17 left in the third quarter, trailing 29-6.

Wilson (7-for-15, 81 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception) left the game without completing a single pass to a wide receiver. As charged, I am guilty!

“We didn’t complete much passes to anybody,” he went on to say.

Will Boyle (7-for-14, 33 yards, 1 interception) start against the Dolphins on Black Friday?

“We’re gonna have to look at the tape, and we’ll make a decision,” Saleh was quoted as saying.

He may prefer to burn it instead.

Boyle quickly put Garrett Wilson on the board with a 4-yarder on his second third-and-5 attempt. He finished his third attempt to a pressing Wilson, who was apparently so surprised to get another ball that he had it stripped from him.

Is it reasonable to bench Rodgers for the rest of the season?

Rodgers has proven to be as tough as they come over the years. However, it is safe to say that a torn Achilles tendon is the most serious injury he has suffered during his career. If he truly intends to play multiple seasons for the Jets, he should save himself for next season.

Obviously, if the Jets go on a run and compete for a playoff spot, that will have an impact on his decision. However, the Jets appear to be on track for their 13th consecutive season without making the playoffs. As long as the Jets continue on this path, saving Rodgers for next season makes perfect sense.
