Newcastle United are now interested in recruiting a £25 million ‘genius’ who wishes to be released.

Newcastle United are still interested in signing Ruben Neves, but they have their sights set on another Portuguese star who transferred to Saudi Arabia in the summer.

A potential deal for Neves has been heavily scrutinized and might be outlawed if Newcastle’s Premier League rivals get their way. Clubs will vote on a temporary restriction on clubs loaning players from clubs owned by the same person.

Newcastle would be prevented from temporarily signing Neves, and their interest in Jota would be hampered.

Newcastle is one of two Premier League clubs interested in Al Ittihad winger Jota, according to 90min. Tottenham Hotspur, managed by Jota’s previous manager Ange Postecoglu, is also mentioned.

The 24-year-old is yet another player connected with a move away from Saudi Arabia, only months after relocating there.

That has yet to happen, which means Newcastle may struggle to sign him.

Jota’s arrival at Newcastle appears improbable.
The Magpies, like Neves, appear to be unable to complete a loan agreement. As a result, if they wish to sign Jota, it must be on a permanent basis.

While he would be less expensive than Neves, Eddie Howe is less eager to buy a winger.

Jota is a really talented player. During his two years with Celtic, he was regarded as a ‘genius’ by Ally McCoist. Jota’s statistics support up that claim, with 54 goal contributions in 83 games across all competitions.

He would offer even more quality to Newcastle’s attack, which is much needed right now with Harvey Barnes and Jacob Murphy out injured.

While he could be a good signing, Newcastle will be more interested in adding a center-midfielder, a striker, and possibly a center-back in January.

Jota is most likely a luxury they cannot afford at this time.
