As Everton seeks to put the points deduction behind them, two Leeds United contract clauses emerge – Hay, Phil

Leeds United winger Jack Harrison is hoping to build on his strong start at Everton and earn a permanent move to the Toffees.

Leeds’ loan agreements in the summer were mostly against their will, but few have jumped ship to greener pastures so far.

Before today’s surprise, Everton and Jack Harrison were looking strong, with four wins and two draws on the board and looking highly likely to stay in the top flight.

Everton’s point deduction has been confirmed.
The Premier League dealt the Toffees a huge blow today, confirming that they have been deducted 10 points immediately due to a violation of profit and sustainability rules.

It drops Sean Dyche’s side to 19th in the table, five points adrift of safety, after they were on course for 44 points based on their results so far.

Everton’s previous strong position raises some doubts about their ability to stay up this season, despite being more than good enough to be confident before today’s news.

Will Jack Harrison remain at Everton?
Meanwhile, Harrison’s chances of a permanent transfer may have suffered as a result of Everton’s exposed financial difficulties.

Phil Hay revealed today that there are two factors influencing Everton’s ability to sign Harrison beyond the summer of 2024, one of which is whether Leeds are promoted without the winger:

“The Athletic has been informed that if Leeds do not return to the Premier League this season, the terms of Harrison’s contract may allow him to go out on loan again next summer.” His move to Everton is a loan with no buyout clause, but he has settled in well.”

If Leeds are promoted and Everton stay up as a result of more strong Harrison performances, Leeds may be priced out of a deal.

Everton should stay up this season, as they are only five points behind the leaders and have been five points better than some of the teams around them so far.

The signing of Harrison is contingent on our promotion, because the loan agreement is extremely frustrating.

If we do, you can probably count Everton out because he’d cost a lot of money, which they’ve already shown they don’t have.
