Newcastle United’s injury report

Newcastle United’s injury report has been updated.

This was revealed in a ‘exclusive’ by The Telegraph on Wednesday afternoon.

If this Newcastle United injury update is correct, it will not improve the mood of the NUFC fanbase, let alone Eddie Howe.

They report / assert that the current situation is…

Callum Wilson – A hamstring injury will keep him out for at least six weeks.

Sven Botman – Could be out even longer due to a knee injury that may necessitate surgery. The defender has still not returned to group training yet according to the newspaper report. According to the Telegraph, if surgery is required, the former Lille defender will be out until at least February.

Alexander Isak – Set to be the only injured Newcastle United player (who did not start the Bournemouth match) to return to action after the international break for the Chelsea match on November 25th.

Sean Longstaff – According to The Telegraph, the midfielder is now suffering from a swollen ankle and is a doubt for this Chelsea match.

Harvey Barnes – Said to be making good progress, but is unlikely to return to the first team for at least another month.

According to The Telegraph, ‘Elliot Anderson could also return before the end of the year, but Dan Burn, Jacob Murphy, and Matt Targett are not expected back until the middle of January.’

While Sandro Tonali’s suspension is for the entire season, Bruno Guimaraes will be available for Chelsea following his one-game suspension.

Another positive is that Miguel Almiron’s muscle problem at Bournemouth is not serious, according to this new report, and he could be back in time to face Chelsea as well.

Separate from this Telegraph report, Swiss media revealed today that Fabian Schar will miss Switzerland’s game against Israel tonight. Hopefully just a precaution, but we’ll see if he plays in either of Switzerland’s other two games next week.
