Youri Tielemans will be hoping to do the same with the Belgium national team after turning things around at Aston Villa.
Earlier in the season, the midfielder, who joined Villa Park on a free transfer, was perplexed as to why he wasn’t playing, and his lack of minutes showed when Domenico Tedesco called on him.
However, with his club situation now back on track after starting against Fulham, the Aston Villa man now has to prove himself to his country, according to Le Soir.
They look at the players who need to show their worth in the upcoming games against Serbia and Azerbaijan, and Tielemans is among them, along with Michy Batshuayi, Aster Vranckx, and Leandro Trossard.
When it comes to Aston Villa player, they explain that he has ‘disappointed the most’ in recent Belgium outings, and he has now seen Amadou Onana and Orel Mangala take his place in the midfield.
The big question is whether the next two games will be enough to persuade Tedesco to give Tielemans a chance, and there will be no better time than against Serbia on Wednesday evening, when the Everton midfielder has been ruled out due to a calf injury.
It’s now up to the new Aston Villa signing to deliver.
