Former Leeds United, Huddersfield Town, and Middlesbrough manager Neil Warnock believes Leicester City and Ipswich Town will win the Championship promotion race.

The veteran manager, who left Huddersfield earlier this season, believes the Foxes and Tractor Boys will ‘edge’ out Leeds in their bid for an immediate return to the Premier League.

Both sides above United are tied on 39 points heading into the international break in November, but Leeds have managed to close the gap to top spot from 14 points at the start of the month to just eight with two-thirds of the season remaining.

Leicester will also have to deal with the absence of several first-team players during the Africa Cup of Nations in January and February. Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi, Abdul Fatawu, and Patson Daka are all expected to be called up by their respective countries, while Harry Souttar, along with Ipswich’s Massimo Luongo, could represent Australia at the AFC Asian Cup.
