Leeds United manager Daniel Farke is hopeful that Djed Spence will be fit to play against Rotherham United next week, as he plans to resume full training soon.

The Whites have yet to start a game with their full starting lineup this season, which speaks volumes about their play thus far.

Djed Spence’s loan from Tottenham Hotspur was viewed as a potentially game-changing signing for the club, but he only made one brief appearance in early September.

Spence has been out since suffering a knee ligament injury during the September international break while training at Thorp Arch.

The initial prognosis from Leeds was that he would be out for up to eight weeks, putting him in with a chance of returning for the home game against Plymouth Argyle.

That game came too soon for him because of illness setbacks, which Farke confirmed in his pre-match press conference, preventing him from returning to fitness sooner.

Now, Leeds Live’s Beren Cross has revealed that the defender hopes to be back in full training during the international break, giving him a good chance of playing against Rotherham United next Friday.

“Gelhardt, Shackleton, and, in particular, Spence are all players Farke hopes to reintegrate into team training before the Millers game.” The sooner Spence takes that step, the sooner he will be able to prepare for his long-awaited full debut.”

Spence’s return for the winter schedule would be a huge boost for us because it would add a new dimension to our attack.

Being where we are this season is fantastic, but we can improve even more with Spence back in the lineup and firing at full strength.

There aren’t many full-backs at his level in this division, so having him partner Dan James and Willy Gnonto on the right side is an exciting prospect.
