Xeka has been offered to Newcastle United, and Rafael Benitez may miss out on the free agent midfielder.

In the midst of an injury crisis, Newcastle United has been offered the chance to sign free agent midfielder Xeka.

That is according to TEAMtalk, who claims Eddie Howe has been given the opportunity to sign Xeka on a free transfer.

Sandro Tonali is suspended for the Magpies, and fellow midfielder Elliot Anderson is also out.

With Bruno Guimaraes suspended and Lewis Miley starting on Saturday, Newcastle may be tempted to add another midfielder.

Newcastle United has been offered the chance to sign Xeka.
Newcastle have now been offered the chance to sign free agent Xeka, according to TEAMtalk.

The 28-year-old midfielder is without a club after being released by Rennes at the end of last season.

Xeka played more than 100 league games for Lille before joining Rennes in 2022.

Newcastle has been made aware of Xeka’s availability, given that he can be signed outside of the transfer window.

The issue here is that Newcastle have already registered all 25 Premier League players, so there is no room for a new arrival.

Despite Tonali’s ban, Newcastle is unlikely to receive special permission, so Xeka would have to wait until January to play anyway.

Rafael Benitez may be unable to sign Xeka.
According to the report, Celta Vigo has been trying to sign Xeka and a deal was thought to be close.

However, the move appears to have fallen through, especially since Xeka’s agents are now offering him elsewhere.

Xeka would join Celta under former Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez, who took over in the summer.

Celta sits 18th in La Liga with one win in 13 games, putting Benitez under enormous pressure. The Spaniard may believe that Xeka can help him, but Newcastle may now abandon him.
