Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk is recovering from a hernia and will miss the game against Plymouth Argyle.

The Whites are preparing for their next Championship game this weekend, when they host Plymouth Argyle at home on Saturday.

Injury concerns have suddenly surfaced in Daniel Farke’s squad ahead of the Green Army’s long journey to West Yorkshire.

As previously stated, Farke was unwilling to provide an exact timetable for Struijk’s absence from the squad this month, but appeared optimistic about his return after the international break.

He did say this to provide more information on the subject (via the YEP):

“He’s had issues with both hernias for months, even in pre-season.” We had to make a decision because the last game was too painful. It is a wise decision to do it now and take advantage of the international break. “I’m hoping he doesn’t miss too many games.”

Struijk’s absence is a huge blow because he has been our best defender this season.

Hopefully, it won’t be too much of a setback for him, as we could use him in almost every game this season.

Liam Cooper should undoubtedly take over as captain to partner Joe Rodon in the middle of the defense, and while not a bad replacement, it is a setback.
