Crysencio Summerville has hinted at his future with Leeds United by stating his desire to return to the Premier League with the Whites.
Summerville spoke to leedsunited.com after winning the club’s player of the month award for October, having scored five goals and provided three assists in five games.
With ten goals already this season, the 22-year-old has been one of the division’s standout players. Kieran Dewsbury-Hall, Sammie Szmodics, and Adam Armstrong are the only players with more.
Leeds turned down interest from a number of Premier League clubs, including Burnley, who, according to Fabrizio Romano, had a £20 million offer turned down.
However, his strong start to the season has drawn admiring glances from across England’s top flight, with Romano reporting that clubs are keeping an eye on his situation.
Summerville gives a big hint about Leeds’ future.
Summerville, on the other hand, has given a strong indication that he will not be leaving in January by stating that he wants to return to the Premier League with Leeds this season.
“What I can say to every young player is that you have to enjoy every minute when you step on the pitch,” he said. I think I’m enjoying this year more; I want to return to the Premier League with Leeds United; it’s about fighting for every ball and every point.”
The fact that he has admitted to enjoying this season more is a strong indication that players can sometimes drop down a league and still benefit their career.
Summerville had a breakout season last year, but has established himself as a key player this season, a role that he clearly thrives in.
There is no clearer indication yet that Summerville will not be leaving in the January window, which will undoubtedly be crucial to Leeds’ chances of promotion.
