“The club appeals to me,” says a big name transfer official, who is ‘delighted’ to be joining Newcastle United.
Newcastle United were unable to capitalize on their victory over Arsenal, falling 2-0 to Borussia Dortmund in Germany on Tuesday night.
The Magpies had a dismal Champions League season, with the quality and weight of playing extra games clearly something Eddie Howe and his players will have to deal with better in the future.
Obviously, this will require recruitment, but there will be a desire for a portion of that to be done on bargain terms rather than signing finished items for large sums and large pay.
The appointment of Marcel Bout as Newcastle United’s new ‘chief scout’ is covered in Wednesday’s edition of Dutch daily AD. Bout is a household figure in the world of scouting, having previously worked for Manchester United and having a lengthy history with Louis van Gaal.
He’ll be based in the Netherlands but will travel all over the world, with AD noting that being close to Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport will assist.
“I have recently come into contact with Newcastle,” Bout is reported as saying. The club’s gradual growth appeals to me. I’m also glad to be back in England and competing in the Champions League.”
According to AD, Bout’s transfer preparations for Newcastle United will begin immediately.
