If Iheanacho left, Leicester City should try to outbid Southampton and Burnley for his services:
If forward Kelechi Iheanacho left in January, Leicester City should look to grab this transfer.

Leicester City have been linked with the signing of Villarreal striker Ben Brereton Diaz.

The Foxes have been the league’s standout performers so far this season, but it is probable that they will aim to bolster their squad further in the forthcoming January transfer window.

Leicester City have been linked with a number of players in recent weeks and months, the most recent being former Blackburn Rovers striker Brereton Diaz.

Leicester face tough task to keep Ndidi, Iheanacho

In the summer, the Chilean left the Lancashire club on a free transfer to join Spanish side Villarreal.

However, the decision appears to have backfired, as TEAMtalk reports that Leicester, Crystal Palace, Burnley, Southampton, and West Brom are all interested in bringing the attacker back to England.

It appears like Leicester would benefit from this trade, especially if current forward Kelechi Iheanacho were to depart the club.

Kelechi Iheanacho might leave Leicester City in January.

The Foxes saw a number of high-profile players leave the club over the summer, so Enzo Maresca will be eager to finish the season with his group intact.

While he did not leave in the summer, Iheanacho was linked with a move abroad on multiple occasions, with teams from the Premier League and even Saudi Arabia reportedly interested.

During the summer, the 27-year-old was linked with moves to Crystal Palace, Everton, and Serie A side Roma, but none materialized.

Iheanacho has been an important player for Leicester this season, contributing five goals, but the forward is in the final months of his contract, leaving the club in a difficult scenario come January.

TEAMtalk reports that Premier League clubs such as West Ham, Brentford, and Palace are all interested in signing Iheanacho in January.

If Iheanacho leaves, Leicester should go all out to recruit Brereton Diaz as a replacement.

If Kelechi Iheanacho left, why should Leicester City aim to sign Ben Brereton Diaz?

Leicester, as expected, descended from the Premier League with a plethora of attacking alternatives that were much too excellent for the Championship.

So it might be argued that the Foxes don’t need to strengthen their forward line because they already lead the Championship and appear to have enough goals.

However, if Iheanacho leaves, Leicester will be unable to rely entirely on Jamie Vardy to secure promotion for the remainder of the season.

If the Nigerian international does move in January and the links to Brereton Diaz are real, Leicester must act quickly to grab the transfer ahead of Southampton and Burnley.

Brereton Diaz has a lot of experience in this league, having scored 22 and 14 goals in his last two seasons.

His all-around game was really good last season, as he scored 14 goals and had four assists. According to WhoScored.com, he averaged 2.5 shots per game, 0.8 dribbles, and a pass success percentage of 75.7%, resulting in an average of 0.9 critical passes.

Many expect Leicester to end the season in their current position, which would be strengthened if they were to add Brereton Diaz, who could become the club’s top man and his goals could easily propel them over the finish line.

Furthermore, whether they are in the Championship or the Premier League next season, they would be adding a formidable striker to their ranks, and it would also prevent a promotion competitor in Southampton from signing the forward.

Given Leicester’s existing possibilities and the strikers’ positions, it makes perfect sense for the club to enhance their forward line by bringing in a player like Brereton Diaz.
