callous David Moyes’ departure date was set by West Ham; the former Chelsea manager was expected to be a revelation if he took over.
The anticipated departure date of David Moyes from West Ham United has been made public, and the former Chelsea manager has been called a “unbelievable fit” for the position.
The 60-year-old Moyes led West Ham to their second significant European trophy win in the previous campaign. In a hotly contested final, the Hammers defeated Fiorentina to win the Europa Conference League. West Ham’s victory in the European Cup Winners’ Cup more than 50 years ago, in 1965, marked the club’s first significant European honor. The 1999 Intertoto Cup is not widely regarded as a significant honor.
In any event, the team’s league performance has declined over the past 15 months, notwithstanding Moyes’ successes in Europe.
The Hammers are currently 12th in the table and had flirted with relegation for a large portion of the 2022–2023 season.
Although Moyes is finding it difficult to manage the day-to-day operations of domestic football, West Ham is once again dominating in Europe.
The current deal for the Scot ends in the summer of 2019. At that point, it appears very likely that Moyes will depart West Ham, per talkSPORT.
Moyes is “not in imminent danger of being sacked” by the Hammers, according to talkSPORT.
But when his current contract expires next summer, “it is unlikely at this stage the Scot will be offered a new managerial contract.”
The Daily Mail confirms talkSPORT’s assertions that Moyes left West Ham during the summer. Also, according to both sources, Moyes might get an offer for a technical position upstairs. The question of whether he would be open to accepting it is quite another.
Disagreements regarding the club’s direction and West Ham’s summer hiring were also brought to light.
Conjecture has abounded Tim Steidten, who West Ham hired as their technical director in July, and Moyes do not get along.
According to rumors, Moyes preferred bringing in seasoned British players like Scott McTominay, James Ward-Prowse, and Harry Maguire. Steidten allegedly desired that the team expand its reach and investigate foreign markets.
A “unbelievable fit” for the former Chelsea manager at West Ham
Former England striker Darren Bent has backed Graham Potter to be a revelation at the club if given the go-ahead, in the unlikely event that Moyes does depart West Ham at the end of the season.
Potter hasn’t had a job since Chelsea fired him back in April. The former Brighton manager is still highly regarded as a superb coach who can bring out the best in young players despite his unsuccessful time at Stamford Bridge.
He also plays an attacking style of football, which would surely appeal to the Hammers supporters.
Bent stated on talkSPORT: “I think Potter would be a great fit, so it would be interesting to see what type of manager [West Ham] do want.”
