After recovering his best form, the 24-year-old should disregard new media claims and stay at Leeds United.
Süleyman ztürk, a journalist, has pushed Tottenham Hotspur to make a January transfer for Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk.
ztürk was speaking to Voetbal Zone about Struijk’s form, describing him as the ‘best’ centre defender in the Championship before suggesting he must depart to advance his national team hopes.
Spurs were thrown into a defensive crisis on Monday evening when Struijk’s fellow Dutchman Micky van de Ven suffered what appears to be a severe hamstring injury.
Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie were both issued red cards in the same game, with the former being suspended for the next three games.
Spurs will have only one recognized center-back at that time, and van de Ven’s injury will almost certainly compel them to enter the transfer market in January.
Struijk should disregard rumors and stay at Leeds.
Despite ztürk’s words and the apparent allure of a team like Spurs, Struijk should stay at Leeds until at least the summer.
Last season, the 24-year-old experienced a dreadful Premier League campaign after being pushed across the defense, which severely harmed his confidence.
Struijk, on the other hand, has played every minute of every game under Daniel Farke, is in a style of football that suits him wonderfully, and is captain whenever Liam Cooper or Luke Ayling do not start. This is becoming more common.
For the time being, a whole season at this level is exactly what he needs to return to the Premier League as a much improved player, whether with Leeds or another club if promotion is gained.
Struijk can learn from the mistakes of some of his former teammates who jumped ship too soon. He has benefited the most from the divisional shift.
