Newcastle will be missing 12 players in Dortmund as Howe selects youngsters.
According to Keith Downie of Sky Sports, Eddie Howe has only 16 senior players for tonight’s Champions League trip to Borussia Dortmund due to injuries and suspension – three of them are goalkeepers.
Dan Burn (hamstring), Matt Targett (groin), Alexander Isak (groin), Jacob Murphy (dislocated shoulder), Elliot Anderson (back), Sven Botman (knee), Sandro Tonali (suspension), and Harvey Barnes (foot) are all out due to injury or suspension.
In other news, Emil Krafth and Matt Ritchie, as well as Mark Gillespie and Javier Manquillo (both out with groin injuries), were left out of Newcastle’s official 23-man Champions League roster released in September, rendering all four ineligible.
As a result, U21 duo Ben Parkinson and Lucas De Bolle were sighted boarding the plane to Germany on Monday alongside Lewis Miley, and 20-year-old Amadou Diallo was also spotted practicing with the senior group just a few hours before the squad took off for Dortmund.
Newcastle’s roster consists of 16 senior players: Pope, Dubravka, Karius – Livramento, Trippier, Lascelles, Schar, Dummett, Hall – Guimaraes, Joelinton, Willock, Longstaff – Almiron, Wilson, Gordon.
Newcastle have 16 senior players with them for tomorrow night’s match in Dortmund, three of them are goalkeepers.
Eddie Howe is down to the bare bones, therefore there will be some teenagers on the bench.
I count seven injured players, one suspended player, and three unregistered #NUFC players.
