Moussa Diaby addresses Aston Villa’s ‘issue’ and makes a direct admission to the Champions League.
BirminghamLive brings you Aston Villa news as Moussa Diaby reflects on the setback at Nottingham Forest.
Moussa Diaby admits that Aston Villa are not ready to fight for Champions League football as they work to improve their away form.
Unai Emery’s team has only won two of their first six road games this season, losing the other half. Villa have won all of their home games this season and haven’t lost in the league since early September, although they were defeated 2-0 by Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
“If we want to play for the Champions League we have to be able to win any game – home or away,” Diaby stated in a statement. “However, we can’t think about the Champions League right now.” To strengthen the team, we must take small steps and work hard in training.
“We have a lot of new players, and we need to keep working together to play better and win more games in order to finish in the top four or five in this league.” I believe we must find a method to play well away from Villa Park. Then we’ll have a great season since everyone knows how good we are at home.
“Our issue is that we have yet to demonstrate that form away from home, so we must continue to work and improve our game plan.” Our play at home is good; our play away is more challenging, but I believe this is true of every team. We need to enhance our away game in order to be consistent, and we need to develop a winning style away from home.”
Diaby went on to say: “Now we have two home games to look forward to – one in the Conference League and one in the Premier League – before the international break.
“We need to win those two games in order to accumulate more points in each of those contests. But it’s not going to be easy. This loss was disappointing, but the fans must believe in us to keep going in this manner, and we will strive to win every game.”
