Exclusive: Newcastle and Liverpool face new competition for Man City star as European behemoths enter the fray

TEAMtalk can exclusively reveal that Juventus are interested in signing Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips, who is also wanted by Liverpool and Newcastle.

The midfielder must decide whether to fight for his spot at the Etihad or to move on to a club that will give him a better chance of making the England squad for Euro 2024.

According to TEAMtalk sources, Juventus has emerged as a possible destination for Phillips in January.

There is still hope that a loan agreement can be reached between all parties, as long as the terms of the arrangement include the option to buy rather than the requirement to buy.

Juventus are missing midfielders Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagiolo for the foreseeable future and are considering many options for the winter transfer window.

TEAMtalk sources say Phillips is a player they’re interested in, but they want to know more about the circumstances the player and club are looking for this winter.

As they prepare to compete for the Italian league title, Juventus believes they can ensure Phillips regular game time at a top level in Serie A.

Phillips is being considered for a January move by Juventus.

As things stand, Juventus would be opposed to buying Phillips on a permanent basis, but would be willing to do so if things went well during his loan stay.

Man City paid £42 million for the 27-year-old from Leeds United in the summer of 2022, but he is failing to keep that worth.

Phillips has only made one start in seven appearances this season and has played a total of 189 minutes of competitive action.

Man City were willing to loan Phillips out in the summer, but he preferred to stay and compete for a starting spot.

The future does not appear good for him under Pep Guardiola’s setup, and TEAMtalk insiders say the next few weeks will be critical in establishing what his next step will be.

As previously reported by TEAMtalk, Newcastle United are still interested in signing Phillips if he becomes available, although it is believed that Man City would prefer not to loan him out to a Premier League competitor.

In recent weeks, Liverpool and Tottenham have both expressed interest in the out-of-favour midfielder, so Juventus will face competition for his signing.
