Newcastle’s £13 million player is expected to miss the Borussia Dortmund encounter due to a new injury.

Newcastle United will be missing one of their Champions League regulars against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night.

The Magpies have had a good start in Europe, but their Champions League ambitions were dashed when they were defeated 1-0 by Dortmund at St James’ Park.

Now comes the rematch, with Eddie Howe leading his team to Germany. The Newcastle team that will face Dortmund will, however, be very different from the one that faced them on Tyneside.

This is due to a number of injuries sustained by the Magpies. Jacob Murphy will not play, and despite his comeback to training, it would be surprising to see Alexander Isak play. Newcastle will also be missing suspended midfielder Sandro Tonali.

Newcastle will now be without another player versus Dortmund.

Dan Burn appears to be out of the Borussia Dortmund vs. Newcastle game.

Dan Burn is expected to miss Newcastle’s fourth Champions League game this season owing to a back injury suffered in the 1-0 win over Arsenal, according to the Chronicle.

Burn was pulled off at halftime after landing awkwardly after going up for a header.

The £13 million defender, who has started all three of Newcastle’s Champions League games thus far, suddenly appears to be out.

Eddie Howe will have to make changes to his back four as a result of this.

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle team will be compelled to adapt.
With Burn likely to miss out, someone else will have to fill in at left-back.

Matt Targett, who was injured against Manchester United last week, will not be one of them.

That means it will most likely be a tie between Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall. One of them appears to be set to make his Champions League debut for the first time.

Hall is a more natural left-back replacement, but Livramento was given the nod at halftime against Arsenal. He came in for Burn in the second half, with Kieran Trippier shifting to the left side of defense.

That worked really well against Arsenal, and it could be Howe’s path in the Champions League.
