Leeds United’s automatic promotion position is likely to change as crucial opponents gain a significant advantage.

The Leeds United automatic promotion environment is about to shift as a major competitor is given a huge opportunity.

Leeds pulled to within six points of second-placed Ipswich Town after a 1-0 win against Championship leaders Leicester City on Friday night, before picking up a point at Birmingham City on Saturday.

Daniel Farke’s side is now seven points back of the automatic promotion places, although second-placed Ipswich Town have a game in hand, which Kieran McKenna’s side will cover tomorrow evening with an away match against third-bottom Rotherham United.

Leeds will play sixth-bottom Plymouth Argyle four days later, by which time the automatic promotion situation will have shifted one way or the other thanks to Ipswich’s game in hand, which gives McKenna’s side the possibility to move ten or eight points clear.

On Saturday, Ipswich Town host 14th-placed Swansea City, while leaders Leicester City visit 12th-placed Middlesbrough in 3pm kick-offs.
