Leeds United and Hull City’s Championship opponents have hired a new manager ahead of their trip to Sheffield Wednesday.

Millwall, Leeds United’s Championship rivals, have recruited a new manager ahead of their trip to Sheffield Wednesday.

Joe Edwards will be in the away dugout against Hillsborough this weekend following his appointment as Gary Rowett’s replacement.

The 37-year-old was previously Frank Lampard’s assistant at both Chelsea and Everton, but has recently taken over as manager.

Former Chelsea teammate and ex-Bradford City defender Andy Myers has followed him to Millwall.

“First and foremost, it’s a really proud day for me and my family,” Edwards told Millwall’s official website.

“Despite the fact that I have been coaching for a long time, many people will be aware that this is my first job as head coach.”

“Throughout the years, at various levels, you think you’d enjoy the opportunity to advance. To do it at a club like this, to be the head coach of Millwall Football Club, is not something I take lightly. “I’m very excited.”

“With Joe, I’m excited,” Millwall chairman James Berylson said. He is someone who I believe is quite imaginative and has some good ideas about how we can improve as a club.

“It was a thorough process, with no stone unturned, and Joe was engaging, attentive, and impressive throughout, and I had the impression that we could have a productive working relationship together.”

“We welcome both Joe and Andy to The Den with open arms and look forward to seeing the impact they can make on and off the pitch throughout what we hope to be a long relationship with Millwall.”
