Kalvin Phillips is still on the outskirts of Manchester City.

According to sources, Juventus has entered the race for Everton-linked midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

Phillips is out of favor at Manchester City, having appeared in just seven games this season. The midfielder, who joined from Leeds United for a cost of up to £42 million, has struggled to make an impact at the Etihad Stadium and was on the perimeter during the club’s Treble-winning season last season.

Phillips has remained in the England team, despite admitting that boss Gareth Southgate has requested that the 27-year-old play regularly in order to be included in the Three Lions squad for the European Championships next summer.

According to reports, Everton is one of several Premier League clubs interested in signing Phillips in January. The Toffees now have Amadou Onana, James Garner, Abdoulaye Doucoure, and Idrissa Gana Gueye as midfield possibilities, but the latter will be unavailable in January due to Senegal’s participation in the African Cup of Nations.

Newcastle United are also thought to be interested in signing Phillips. However, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Juventus has set their sights on the engine-room operator. The Old Lady are second in Serie A but have lost Paul Pogba after he failed a drugs test, while Nicol Fagioli has been banned until May for betting rules violations.

According to reports, Juve has put Phillips in the ‘fast lane’ in comparison to other players they want, and he is admired by directors Cristiano Giuntoli and Giovanni Manna.
