Championship rivals Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday are’set to employ’ an ex-Chelsea coach as manager.

Millwall, Leeds United’s Championship opponents, are apparently ready to hire ex-Chelsea coach Joe Edwards as their new manager.

Gary Rowett was fired as manager of the Lions last month, ending his four-year career.

According to the Evening Standard, Edwards will be hired as his replacement.

If a contract is reached to retain Edwards’ services, the 37-year-old will be taking on his first senior management position.

He formerly worked as Frank Lampard’s assistant at both Chelsea and Everton.

He was named caretaker head coach of England’s under-20s in August.

Edwards is thought to want to bring in Chelsea personnel, including ex-Bradford City defender Andy Myers.

Millwall are now 18th in the Championship table and have not won in over a month.

Their most recent victory occurred on October 3rd, when they defeated Plymouth Argyle thanks to goals from Zian Flemming and George Saville.

The club’s most recent defeat came at the hands of Southampton, who won thanks to a late Ryan Fraser winner.
