As we reach November, Leicester City and other Championship clubs will be looking ahead to the January transfer window.
The Foxes had a busy summer, having been relegated from the Premier League and having several wantaway players on their books.
Some big names did leave, but with Enzo Maresca taking over as manager, the Italian was eager to bring in fresh players.
The club experienced a huge turnover of players over the summer, but it appears to have had no negative impact, as the club currently remains at the top of the table.
Despite appearing to be on track for promotion, Maresca may want to make some changes in January to improve his team’s chances of returning to the top division, but keeping his key players at the King Power Stadium is likely to be the most essential.
With that in mind, we’ve selected three potential deals that would make for a perfect winter window…
Amad Diallo is present.
Diallo was extensively connected with a number of Championship clubs during the summer transfer window. Leicester City were late entrants into the second tier, yet there were suggestions that they were interested in a deal.
Diallo had impressed on loan at Sunderland previous season, and it was thought that Manchester United were undecided whether to keep him or loan him out again. Unfortunately, the intentions were thwarted when Diallo sustained an injury in pre-season that has kept him out since.
The Ivory Coast international is already back on the pitch, and when the January transfer market opens, Manchester United may try to loan him out to gain match fitness.
The Foxes don’t need to add much to their roster, but Maresca may still be interested in a deal, and it’s unlikely they’d turn down the opportunity to loan Diallo out for the rest of the season. His arrival could help them reclaim their Premier League status next season.
Out: Harry Souttar
Souttar was said to be on the verge of leaving in the summer transfer window, with Rangers reportedly interested in the centre-back and Maresca giving the go-ahead for the Australian international to leave. However, for whatever reason, the defender stayed at the King Power Stadium past the deadline but has struggled for minutes.
Out: Patson Daka
Daka is yet another Leicester player who has been widely linked with a move away during the summer.
Several Premier League clubs were said to be interested in the forward, including AFC Bournemouth, Everton, and Burnley.
However, no agreement was reached because it was expected that Leicester’s asking price would be a major stumbling point in any transaction.
The forward does not appear to be in Maresca’s plans, and his appearance against Sunderland was limited to one minute.
The 25-year-old is still under contract with the club until the summer of 2026, therefore Leicester will most likely want to offload Daka in January while his value is still high, with the hope of recouping part of the money they paid for him.
