STAR IN ‘UNBELIEVABLE’ FORM FOLLOWING ASTON VILLA’S EXIT WITH 10 G/A IN 9 GAMES

Jaden Philogene is keeping up his excellent form after leaving Premier League giants Aston Villa in the summer, scoring a ‘unbelievable individual goal’ in Hull City’s win over Preston North End.

Aston Villa, on the other hand, had the foresight to add a buy-back clause in Jaden Philogene’s contract.

Tan Kesler, Hull City’s vice chairman, admitted a few weeks ago that Villa may have first refusal to sign the England U21 international for a cool £15 million at the end of the current season, and do not be surprised if Villa seize this opportunity with both hands, Philogene dancing around the Preston defence while producing his very own Maradona moment on the banks of the Humber.

Jaden Philogene could be re-signed by Aston Villa.

“That’s the learning of a young player,” Hull coach Liam Rosenior said of Philogene’s second-half surge after a lethargic first half (Hull Daily Mail). “He was so disappointed in the halftime locker room.” But we all gathered around him and told him that the following (shot) will go in.

“The next one missed because the goalkeeper made a great save, but he saved his best for last.” It was an incredible individual goal, and it demonstrates what he is capable of.

“All in all, it was a really pleasing day.”

Philogene, who joined Hull in a £5 million deal on deadline day, now has 10 goal contributions in his last nine appearances for The Tigers and England’s U21s. His sudden burst of good form has airlifted Rosenior’s side into the play-offs, to within touching distance of Leeds United in third.

‘Unbelievable’

“Villa have the right to buy him back for £15 million (if we are promoted),” Kesler says to the Hull Daily Mail. “However, if we receive another bid worth greater than £15 million. Then we’d be able to talk about it.

“We’re not compelled to sell to Villa. But they would have first dibs, as part of our deal.”
