Leeds United’s key blunder went unpunished, leaving management angry.

Darren Moore oversaw Huddersfield Town’s defeat against Leeds United, and he reduces the game to one moment in which they failed to capitalize before the hosts’ quickfire second and third goals.

Huddersfield Town’s failure to capitalize on an isolated first-half chance came on a day when Darren Moore believed Leeds United would pose a threat. The Whites defeated the Terriers 4-1 in the West Yorkshire derby at Elland Road.

Moore, who has overseen one win in seven games at Huddersfield, believed the game hung on Delano Burgzorg’s wasted opportunity and United’s quickfire second and third goals. Burgzorg had a one-on-one opportunity thanks to Jamie Shackleton’s sloppy control, but Joe Rodon reacted quickly to smother the ball away from the Dutch attacker.

Moore came into the game fully aware of the threat Daniel Farke’s team posed, particularly at Elland Road.

“We got into some wonderful, threatening areas of the pitch [from] countering up the pitch, [but] we just felt when we got the balls around the Leeds United area we just chose the wrong pass,” Moore told the BBC.

“We had what we thought was a fantastic opportunity to get back into the game, and it just didn’t happen.” Leeds’ two fast goals simply stole the game away from us.

“We know what kind of team they are. They are a dangerous club, certainly here, but we needed to play better in specific scenarios and just did not capitalize on that.

“We just let the game get away from us.” I made a number of changes at halftime, mostly to stabilize the team, but the game just petered out for us in the second half.”
