Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has left to reflect on what could have been….

LEEDS UNITED manager Daniel Farke revealed that Patrick Bamford’s missed penalty was the deciding factor in his team’s loss against Stoke City.

Leeds substitute Bamford might have put Leeds ahead 15 minutes from time after being hauled down by Ben Pearson, but he fired the resultant penalties over the bar. It proved costly as Stoke striker Wesley headed against the bar and it went in off Leeds skipper Pascal Struijk as the Potters won.

Following the game, Farke thought his team squandered the game’s best chance, allowing Stoke to score the game’s only goal.

“You have to be clinical in using your chances and today we missed the biggest chance with the penalty and then you could feel for one or two moments a bit disappointed and the whole stadium was buzzing because we missed the penalty,” the head coach stated.

“They used this to create one or two set-pieces, and they were able to score from the second.”

“This is football – we didn’t give up a single chance in the second half, but because we missed this penalty and didn’t put the game to bed, we were not switched on for this one moment, and they were able to use this chance, and once they were in the lead with just 10 minutes to go, they tried everything, putting their bodies on the line to block every shot.”

“It’s the Championship, it’s relentless, so congratulations to Stoke and a hard-fought win but I also get the feeling you should travel away with points.”
