Chelsea may now have to pay more than £75 million to sign the ‘great’ striker.

If Chelsea are still interested in Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins, they may have to offer more than £75 million.

Before signing his new deal, Ollie Watkins was linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, and journalist Neil Moxley has told GiveMeSport that if someone came knocking, Villa would demand more than £75 million for their talisman.

According to another article from the same publication, Chelsea is interested in Watkins.

This season, the 27-year-old has been in excellent form, scoring five goals in nine Premier League outings, one of which came against Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Aston Villa would demand a lot of money for Ollie Watkins.

Moxley feels that if someone inquired about Watkins, Villa would expect a large sum.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “If somebody was going to come along right this very minute and try to offer a fee to entice Ollie Watkins out of Villa Park, I think you’re going to be talking £75million-plus, if not a bit more because Villa would want to be able to source a replacement.”

Is Ollie Watkins’s net worth greater than £75 million?
Probably to Villa. “Today he played amazing,” Unai Emery said following Watkins’ hat-trick against Brighton & Hove Albion on TNT Sports.

Chelsea paid £115 million to buy midfielder Moises Caicedo from Brighton in the summer (Sky Sports). With that in mind, would it be too much to ask Villa for, perhaps, £80 million for a match-winner like Watkins? Not at all.

Of course, the resale value must be considered here. Caicedo is only 21 years old, thus the Blues might trade him for large money in the near future, whereas Watkins is 27 and his worth could easily begin to fall shortly.

Nonetheless, Villa has every right to demand a fee in the region of £75 million. Is anyone willing to pay it?

If the England international keeps playing like this, perhaps.

Chelsea have been extensively connected with Brentford striker Ivan Toney, but Watkins might be an option if the Blues fail to sign the Bees forward.
