Following the deaths of Sir Bobby Charlton and Bill Kenwright, Klopp delivers a classy message to Manchester United and Everton.
The Liverpool manager has paid tribute to the duo.
Following the deaths of the Manchester United icon and Everton chairman, Jurgen Klopp has paid respect to Sir Bobby Charlton and Bill Kenwright.
Charlton, a major member of England’s 1966 World Cup-winning team, died last week at the age of 86. He is a Manchester United legend, having played 758 games and scoring 249 goals during his time at Old Trafford.
Kenwright died on Monday evening at the age of 78, after a battle with cancer. He was chairman of Liverpool’s Merseyside equivalents for the preceding 19 years and served on their board since 1989.
And Klopp has sent his sympathy to both families. “Eight years in England, knew Bobby before I arrived here,” Klopp stated ahead of Liverpool’s Europa League match against Toulouse. One of the most well-known football figures in the world. I hope he and his family are doing well.
“It’s comparable with Kenwright. I have read about Mr Kenwright, and he had a huge affection for the city and Everton. In the mail he sent around Hillsborough, he stated that he chose the wrong city/mothers I had heard about. A very strong statement.
“With all the rivalry surrounding the [derby] games, we never had any issues on either side of the games.” It demonstrates how connected we are in these circumstances, and he selected the right words at the right time. My heartfelt sympathies to his family.”
